≈ ≈ ☘️ Water is essential for maintaining animal body temperature

Make sure your pet has access to fresh, clean water. Place several bowls of water in different areas of the house and, if possible, add ice cubes to keep the water cold longer

Create shaded areas in your garden or house where your pet can rest. Indoors, close curtains or shutters to maintain a lower temperature. Fans and air conditioners can also help maintain a comfortable room temperature. No walking during the hottest hours of the day. Prefer walks early in the morning or late in the evening when temperatures are lower. Avoid bitumen which can burn your animals' paws

During periods of high heat, animals may lose their appetite

Give them smaller, more frequent meals. Frozen treats made specifically for pets can also help cool them down. Watch for signs of heatstroke: excessive panting, heavy salivation, lethargy, vomiting, or difficulty breathing. If you observe these symptoms, immediately place your pet in a cool place, apply damp cloths to its body and contact a veterinarian. For long-haired pets, regular grooming can help prevent overheating. Never shave their coat completely, as it provides protection against sunburn

Preparing for your vacation and taking care of your cat's well-being while you are away is of paramount importance. Here are some tips to follow before leaving on a trip

Essential tasks for a carefree vacation for you and your four-legged friend

1. Stock up on supplies: do you have enough litter and medicine to manage the entire vacation

2. Make sure your cat is microchipped with up-to-date information

3. Provide the pet sitter with your veterinarian's contact information, microchip number and relevant medical history regarding your pet

4. Update your contact details in the chosen microchip database: check that the contact details associated with your pet's microchip are accurate and up to date

5. It is recommended that you leave a spare key with a trusted family member, friend or neighbor in case there is an emergency or your pet sitter needs immediate access

6. Prepare clear instructions: Write down detailed instructions regarding meal times, medications, litter box maintenance, and any other specific care needs for your cat

7. Leave familiar items such as blankets, toys, or even an old t-shirt soaked in your scent to give your cat a sense of security while you are gone
